Playtech

Playtech is currently one of the largest software providers in the iGaming industry. Since their inception in 1999, the growth of this multi-award winning games provider has been exceptional.

an addition to its online casino products, the wide range of other services that they provide has catapulted Playtech to the top rungs of the iGaming ladder.

Their comprehensive portfolio consists of over 600+ of the most innovative casino games which are readily available to be played at 100s of the top online casinos.

Their reach extends further than just video slots and table game, however, Playtech also provide the industry-leading iPoker network, an impressive range of sports and virtual sports betting, bingo and lottery offerings and they are also the largest live casino supplier in Europe and Asia.

Playtech’s multitude of products along with their wide range of services has helped them to achieve great status within the industry, but with so many other leading providers involved in an increasingly saturated market, they know that they must continue to innovate and develop in order to retain this position throughout the years to come.

The story of Playtech is one that reaches back to 1999 and began in Estonia’s second-largest city – Tartu. Home to fewer than 100,000 people, Tartu is considered to be the intellectual centre of the country so it’s understandable why this fledgeling software provider rose up to become one of the largest companies in today’s market.

Founded by Israeli entrepreneur Teddy Sagi, along with some of the best minds from the casino, multimedia and software engineering industries Playtech was born and only 2 short years later launched its first casino product in 2001.

Realising that they couldn’t rest on their laurels and reap the rewards from their early labours, the powers that be at Playtech knew that in order to truly make their mark and cement their place as a leading provider, they had to expand.

In December 2004 they did exactly that. Playtech branched out and founded the iPoker poker network. This opened up a new and exciting avenue where they could apply their ingenuity and skill to reach a much wider audience. The countless hours of hard work which Playtech poured into creating this poker platform certainly paid off as it is now considered to be the industry-leading iPoker network.

Again, 2 years later in 2006, Playtech decided to bolster its presence in the bingo market with the launch of Bringo Broadway. Since then, they have had a long and successful history of supplying the biggest bingo and gaming brands with the best performing software. Now more than 100 of the industries biggest and best-known operators and brands belong to the Playtech Bingo network including: Gala Bingo, Mecca, bet365, Ladbrokes, Sky and Betfair.

After adding the poker and bingo networks to their already impressive portfolio, Playtech understandably had to increase their staff roster in order to continue to maintain their products and develop even further. To support their rapid growth, in 2006 they began a long-term recruitment initiative via a Playtech Academy in Estonia and also opened the doors to a new development centre in Sofia, Bulgaria.

This expansion was only the beginning, over the years Playtech has opened offices in 19 countries worldwide, employing over 5,000 of the leading minds in the iGaming industry. Their meteoric rise has been due to both the innovations that they have provided and the thousands of talented personnel behind the scenes.

In 2007, Playtech appointed Mor Weizer as CEO and Executive Director of Playtech plc. Already highly experienced in the online gambling, technology and finance industries, he has used his wealth of knowledge to drive this provider forward for over 10 years with the same vigour and enthusiasm as ever.
